Why a manual?

Unlike most books on climate change, this is a practical ‘how to’ manual.

It was inspired by great practical cookery books from the likes of Delia Smith, and beautifully written ones from the likes of Nigel Slater, construction toys like Lego, the famous Haynes car repair manuals, and advice from the famous  Dr Hessayon on growing my own vegetables from seed! Like the Haynes manuals, it’s short, well-designed and punchy. It’s also been described as ‘a sort of kids book for adults’! I’m told it’s a good read as well!

It breaks the problem and the actions down into bite-size chunks, making the process clear and manageable.

It’s punchy and approachable, free of jargon – and it’s free of advice! Why? Because we’re all different. Only you will know what’ll work for you.

The manual also shows you how to inspire others to play their part. It’s a quiet and thoughtful process. You start by going through the manual with a friend (your Carbon Buddy), then learn how to spread what you have learned to others, so more and more people find they can do things that work, too.
